Please read this document carefully so that you follow the correct procedure for application.
Our workshop begins on Sunday afternoon, June 9, 2019, and concludes on Saturday morning, June 15, 2019. Students are expected to participate in the workshop from the very beginning until the very end.
Each application must contain a 1,500-word writing sample. You do not need to be published to be considered for this program, but we are looking for committed writers. Gary and Patti will read all the writing samples, and writers will be informed whether they have been accepted.
Cost, Deposit, & Refunds
Tuition rates range from $2,350 - $4,150, depending on whether you choose a shared or single room. (If you choose a shared room, the rate is between $2,350 and $3,000, depending on bed choice: twin, double, queen, king or pull-out.)
Tuition covers workshops, food and lodging. Participants are responsible for travel costs and any room service they order. The hotel will ask all participants for a credit card number as a security deposit.
There is a $250 US application fee. If applicants are not selected to join the workshop, we can either return the check or shred it. Tuition payments may be made in full, in two, three or four installments. Students must be paid in full by March 1, 2018.
The $250 application fee is non-refundable once applicants are accepted.
Before March 1, 2018, applicants may withdraw from the workshop with no additional penalty except the $250 non-refundable deposit.
After March 1, 2018, tuition is 50% refundable, unless we can fill the spot from our wait list. If we can fill the spot, applicants will be refunded full tuition, minus $500 ($250 application fee and a $250 penalty for late withdrawal).
After April 16, 2018, tuition is non-refundable, unless we can fill the spot from our wait list. If we can fill the spot, applicants will be refunded full tuition, minus $500 ($250 application fee and a $250 penalty for late withdrawal).
Once Gary and Patti have invited you to join the workshop, you will be asked to fill out a lodging form.
Lodging will be in three locations: a self-contained cottage, a historic hotel and a nearby inn.
Students who request a single room are guaranteed a single room. You may put in a friend request for shared rooms.
Cottage rooms share bathrooms.
Most suites have kitchenettes and a separate living space. Some suites are two bedroom, and some suites have pull-out beds in the living space.
Only students in single rooms at the hotel and inn will have private bathrooms.
King and Queen rooms with generous working spaces are also available, perfect for two friends who don't mind sharing a bed.
There are many nooks and crannies as well as lovely outdoor spots where you can work quietly if you share a room.
Your room will be assigned to you a week before the workshop begins.
