Please read this document carefully so that you follow the correct procedure for application.

When

Our workshop begins on Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2019, and concludes on Friday morning, April 12, 2019. Students are expected to participate in the workshop from the very beginning until the very end.

Workshop Size

Gary and Kathy will accept 10 writers.

Writing Samples

Each application must contain a 1,500-word writing sample. Students do not need to be published to be considered for this program, but we are looking for committed writers. Gary and Kathy will read all the writing samples, and writers will be informed whether they have been accepted.

Cost, Deposit, & Refunds

Tuition rates range from $2525 - $2900. Because we are staying at a lodge, most students must share bedrooms and bathrooms. We have two double occupancy rooms and two quadruple occupancy rooms. There is one single, queen room.

Tuition covers workshops, food and lodging. Participants are responsible for travel costs.

There is a $250 US application fee. If applicants are not selected to join the workshop, we can either return the check or shred it. Tuition payments may be made in full, in two, three or four installments. Students must be paid in full by January 1, 2019.

Refund Policy:

  • The $250 application fee is non-refundable once applicants are accepted.

  • Before January 1, 2019, applicants may withdraw from the workshop with no additional penalty except the $250 non-refundable deposit.

  • After January 1, 2019, tuition is 50% refundable, unless we can fill the spot from our wait list. If we can fill the spot, applicants will be refunded full tuition, minus $500 ($250 application fee and a $250 penalty for late withdrawal).

  • After March 7, 2019, tuition is non-refundable, unless we can fill the spot from our wait list. If we can fill the spot, applicants will be refunded full tuition, minus $500 ($250 application fee and a $250 penalty for late withdrawal).

Lodging

Once Gary and Kathy have invited you to join the workshop, you will be asked for your lodging preference (single, double or quad).

  • Most students will be sharing rooms and bathrooms.

  • Students will be divided between two houses. Each house has multiple bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen area.

  • You may put in a friend request for shared rooms.

  • Your room will be assigned to you a week before the workshop begins.
